Carson Street Elementary was where I went to school years ago and it was automatically included in the list of schools to visit! It has been years since I set foot in the hallways but it still had that distinct smell when you entered. I met with favorite teachers, Mrs. Amemiya who taught me in the second grade but has continued to guide me even in the years to follow. It is because of her that I knew what selflessness was at a young age. She inspired all of us in “Room 25 Track C.” And I am grateful that up to this day, we still are in contact and I am still able to come to her for anything. Her current students are definitely lucky to have her as their teacher.
Days ago, I reached out to her and asked if she or any teacher at the school needed notebooks. And almost immediately, she got back to me, even with the answers to my questions like: how many classes are in each grade, how many students are in each class, etc. With over 350 students, my team and I was able to donate spiral notebooks for the ENTIRE 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes!
Special shout out to: Mrs. Amemiya for helping us set and organize this visit and giving us a special tour, Mr. Leon for allowing us to make random visits to classrooms and for giving us a huge warm welcome, and to all of the teachers who let us interrupt class time to speak and take pictures!
